Bats! A Mini-Unit that's ready to print!

This bat mini-unit is made to accompany any bat unit or as a quick lesson on bats during the month of October.

I wanted my students to have access to readers that they could either read independently or with teacher support. This unit contains 2 bat readers. Each reader contains the same pictures and labels. However, book 1 contains simpler text and sentences. Book 2 has slightly more difficult text and more sentences on each page.

The readers contain information on bats being mammals, bat babies, bat wings, bat diet, and how bats sleep.

You will also find a vocabulary page to introduce the words mammal, nocturnal, and roost, which are used in the readers.

There is also a Label a Bat page, I Know About Bats comprehension page, writing page with picture/vocabulary support, and a Bat Expert comprehension page that can be used as an assessment.

This mini-unit is ideal for an independent center or small group instruction.

All pages are black and white making this a mini-unit that just needs to be printed. The only prep work required is to cut the readers in half and staple.
