Description

Are you looking for a Bat Unit that is both engaging and rigorous? This bat life cycle project is just what you need to help students research the life cycle of a bat in an interactive format! This project is a great writing component to supplement your science unit on nocturnal animals. The teacher can easily integrate science, the reading of nonfiction texts, research, and informational writing. Great for group work, independent projects, and as a Halloween project in the final weeks of October.

This Bat project includes:

  • a list of recommended resources for teachers
  • bat life cycle word wall cards
  • bat life cycle graphic organizer for students to label
  • graphic organizers for taking notes
  • publishing pages in the fan format
  • complete answer keys

Process:

Students use the provided note-taking sheets to research the bat's life cycle.
They then transfer the notes onto the fans. The report pages (in the fan format) match the note-taking worksheets exactly, making the publishing process simple. This project gives students the opportunity to research, note-take, publish, cut and color. When done, students have a resource clearly shows the bat life cycle.

This project is ideal for:

  • practicing note-taking
  • introducing research
  • for center work
  • fast finishers
  • independent projects
  • group work
  • as a supplement to your nocturnal animals unit
  • as a Halloween activity in October
