Basic Probability and Statistics
- PDF
Description
This a unit bundle of handouts/worksheets that can be used as lessons. This unit is most likely usable in an Algebra 1 course that studies one unit of basic probability and statistics. Students start off learning basic probabilities and then delve into compound probabilities (those involving AND and OR statements). Students then work with the counting principle and construct tree diagrams and/or list sample spaces to find the probabilities of compound events. The second half of the unit has a few lessons on basic statistics, including calculations of the mean, median, and mode of a data set, circle graphs, box-and-whisker plots, stem-and-leaf plots, and histograms. A cumulative unit review is included as well as a unit exam, which contains a mix of multiple-choice and free-response style questions.
