Description

This packet includes four interactive stations where students will need to evaluate sales from four different events:

-movie night
-bowling night
-adventure to the zoo
-day at the amusement park.

Each event has ticket sales that show how much money was earned on each day. Students will then need to plug in the information into the bar graphs. Once they have filled in the bar graphs, student will answer higher order of thinking questions that go along with each bar graph. There are a number of ways to use this math activity:


1,Make this a fun-filled math day and have groups visit each station.
2.Have students work in groups and complete onlu one adventure. Then have them present the information to the class. They can pretend they work for the facility and they are presenting information to their employees about the sales.
3.Spread each one out over a day and use it has a whole group lesson.

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
