Multiple ways you can use in your classroom:
ONE CARD PER STUDENT (SPEAKING): All students stand up and raise their hand and begin to walk carefully around the classroom. Students go to their nearest classmate who has a raised hand. When they have found a partner, they both put their hands down. The students take turns asking each other the questions on their card, making sure to make eye contact and listen to one another while they speak. When both students have finished answering their questions, they switch cards with one another.
ONE CARD PER GROUP (SPEAKING): Hand out one card to each group, and let students take turns answer the questions one at a time to get to know one another.
ONE CARD PER DAY (WRITING): Use these as fun writing journal prompts in the beginning of the year. Print out the black and white version of the cards, and have students glue prompts into their journals or using the graphic organizers provided. Students will need to identify whether the writing prompt is a narrative or an opinion prompt prior to doing their writing. I like to give my students an envelope of prompts, and they are able to choose their favorite one for the day. This is my morning routine so that students come in quietly and know what they are supposed to do!
