What better way to start off the school year than with a fun back to school team building activity. This escape room is perfect for the beginning of the year. This is an engaging mix of strategies and problems that a variety of grade levels will be able to utilize and enjoy! This game not only challenges students to use their problem solving skills, but it will challenge them to use their communication skills as well. This is a fun and exciting way for your students to get to know and work with their new classmates!
There are 6 different lock combinations that your students will need to figure out using the given clues. Print off all the task cards, laminate them (or put them in sheet protectors), and place in an envelope. Students will also need a dry erase marker to write on some of the task cards. Label the envelope with the correct task number. If doing this activity in small groups, you will want to make multiple copies and envelopes.
Start the game by reading the background story and setting a timer. Pass out the first envelope and let the games begin! Students can either use the Google Form to check their lock combination, or they can show you their lock combination. If their answer is correct, they can move on to the next envelope.
There are two different levels to choose from. One level is geared towards 2nd & 3rd grade students and the other is for 4th and 5th grade students. In each level, you will find two more versions. There is a version that has hints on the clue task cards, making this version a little easier for students. There is also a version without hints, making this activity more challenging for students.
You will receive multiple Google PDFs for different levels/hints, a pdf with teacher directions, as well as a copy of all the Google Forms needed for students to check their answers (if you choose to use the Google Form answer checking option).
