Description
Idioms are words or phrases that do not mean exactly what they say. Its meaning changes culture to culture, region to region. Therefore, it takes time and a lot of repetition and practice to understand idioms.
So, encourage your students to learn a new idiom daily (or weekly).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Every day put up a poster of an idiom, discuss it with your class, and have your class complete two writing tasks (slides included). After the 10th day, have students complete 5 worksheets related to the idioms they learned. Once students have mastered the first 10 idioms, quiz them and move on to teaching the next 10, and then the next 10, etc.
