    Description

This product is a BUNDLE of student guided notes for all six modules from the Engage New York, Grade 5 math series.

    What's Included?

    • Simplified examples for students to work through - taken directly from the Teacher's Manual - no more disorganized notebook paper! No more tedious writing of examples on the whiteboard! This note workbook allows students to keep all of their examples and work in the same place - and saves the problem set for additional practice!! Plus, many examples are modeled FROM THE HOMEWORK, so that students are familiar with what the questions are asking for.
    • Daily Challenges built around the "Application Problems" - these help spiral review skills taught in prior modules/grades while applying them in multi-step word problems.
    • Fluency Skill Review - meant to sharpen skills using only computation

    Why Use Student Notes??

    • It helps your students stay organized and have a reference material. I get it - it's another resource, one more thing to copy, one more thing for your students to hang onto. For my students, keeping all of their notes organized in 5th grade was a skill of its own - and one that I have to work on teaching and reteaching as the year continues. For that reason, I created these workbooks so my students would have examples pre-written in one location, with plenty of work space inbetween.
    • It makes teaching easier! Reading through each lesson for every module of Engage New York can be overwhelming. There are A LOT of teacher prompts/scripts, which can take attention away from the core examples and skills needed for students to succeed on their homework or problem sets. If you're someone who likes looking at math examples and then modeling the correct way to problem solve - this product is for YOU.
    • It fosters independence and the skill of referring to notes for examples. This might seem like a silly reason to purchase this product, however for my 5th grades, I was quickly losing my hair having to teach, reteach, explain, then re-explain, and then re-model examples while they were attempting to master their homework. I often tell my students to refer back to their notes and model each homework problem based on the same steps we practiced while taking notes. This helps my students become independent workers who are prepared for the quicker pace of middle school.

This product is a major time saver in my classroom and I'm hoping the same is true for your students and your class. If this product works well in your classroom, I would LOVE to hear all about it in the comments. If you have any questions about this product or suggestions for improvement, please feel free to contact me at any time.

    Happy Teaching!

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given different measurements of liquid in identical beakers, find the amount of liquid each beaker would contain if the total amount in all the beakers were redistributed equally.
Recognize volume as an attribute of solid figures and understand concepts of volume measurement.
A cube with side length 1 unit, called a โ€œunit cube,โ€ is said to have โ€œone cubic unitโ€ of volume, and can be used to measure volume.
A solid figure which can be packed without gaps or overlaps using ๐˜ฏ unit cubes is said to have a volume of ๐˜ฏ cubic units.
