What educators are saying

My students love these puzzles! I used them in the first few days of school as early finisher activities and to introduce the kids to progressive puzzles.
This was a great way to start the year in my GATE class! It is very challenging but my students didn't get frustrated, they persevered through it!

Description

Welcome your students back in a fun and unique way! This Back-to-School puzzle set can be sent with a welcome letter or used as a first-day activity. Enjoy the bonus content as well, which includes a link to a free Back-to-School Mad Gabs® activity!

PROGRESSIVE PUZZLE is a set of puzzles that must be solved in sequential order. The solution to the first puzzle is needed in order to solve the next puzzle, and this continues with each successive puzzle. Students will use a variety of critical reading and thinking skills as they work their way from one puzzle to the next. All four puzzles can be printed on one page as two-sided copies.

The puzzles are: (1) an alphabox or alpha-griddle puzzle; (2) a letter tower or escalator puzzle, (3) a cryptogram, and (4) a fallen phrase puzzle. Three versions of the final puzzle are included so that you have a choice of three final messages: (1) an inspirational quote, (2) a riddle, or (3) a rhyming verse, all with a back-to-school theme.

The TEACHER PAGE includes links to puzzle tutorials, so your students can learn how to solve puzzles that are new to them. Tips, solutions, and an extension activity are also included.
