Automatic Crossword Puzzle Maker

This crossword puzzle generator just made your prep for spelling, vocabulary, and foreign language activities way easier! This Microsoft Word document can be used over and over making an infinite number of different puzzles for ANY WORD LIST. Simply list the words and clues and click the button. Before you know it, a new crossword puzzle will magically appear ready to print—including answer sheets!

1. The product has improved compatibility for different versions of Microsoft Word on either Windows or Mac.

2. The crossword puzzle maker algorithm has been improved, especially for word sets that use fewer shorter words. The crossword puzzle maker also attempts to psuedo-randomly place the words 100 times before asking you to continue or cancel, instead of 50 like it was before. If you choose to continue after this message, the algorithm will now adjust itself while trying to create a successful puzzle, so don't be afraid to OK more attempts..

3. Spaces in between two or more words are automatically removed for the word search, and they are shaded gray in the crossword.

4. The default line thickness for the crossword and the letter shapes puzzles are thicker, allowing for easier pasting into Powerpoint or other software. (Also see our YouTube channel for more tips and tricks related to line thickness.)

5. Saving an editable file is smoother and avoids crashing Word.

6. For advanced users: there is no longer a password required to Unprotect the document, allowing you to modify certain things before generating puzzles. However, be aware that modifications to the document may or may not cause errors in the underlying code. Always save a copy of the original product before attempting Unprotected modifications, or you may eventually need to start over with a fresh download from Teachers Pay Teachers
