Autobiographical Poem "When I'm Me"

This is a great way to warm students up to poetry. It is also really good practice for those students who struggle to write about themselves. I always find that there is a group of students who just can't bring themselves to open up. This can guide them with prompts. I also make my students fill these out before parent-teacher conferences. I always pull this out to show their parents! It is a great way to give their parents a little insight into what is going on in the classroom! I find that at the junior high/high school level, parents miss getting schoolwork from their students. They always appreciate seeing these!
