Description

EMOTIONS AND SOCIAL SCENARIOS Interactive Adapted Books

Take control of meltdowns before they occur. Students will read (with/without adult support) each social scenario and acknowledge how it would make them feel. With simple choice cards of sad, happy, or mad, choosing the appropriate emotion card will allow your students to easily identify how they may feel. Use as many pages as you would like, as it can be divided into two books by printing the cover twice.

The second interactive, adapted book deals with calming strategies to learn and use effectively before a meltdown can even begin. With 30 calming strategy options offered, you may select the visuals that will work best in your classroom. If additional visuals are needed, please let me know in the Q & A section of Autism Educators store and I will be happy to add those for you (although I think I’ve covered quite a few calming strategies). The real-life images will keep your students engaged, as they can see the calming strategies in action.

This activity includes:
• Two covers
• 16 interactive social scenario pages
• sad/happy/mad emotions choice cards for each of the 16 pages
• 30 real-life image calm down strategy interactive pages
• 30 calm down picture/word matching cards
• Mounting boards

SUGGESTED IEP GOAL ALIGNMENT:
Given up to (#) social scenarios with visuals, STUDENT will identify the appropriate emotion (happy/sad/mad) by choosing the correct response card, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

Given visuals and calming strategy choices, STUDENT will demonstrate understanding of at least 3 of these taught strategies to use during times of frustration or anger, in 4 out of 5 occurrences, by MONTH, YEAR.

Thank you for your continued support and kindness.
