My Year 10 students were engaged with this activity as part of their Rights and Freedoms Unit this term. It also looks very nice displayed in the Year 10 Humanities room, and will be good for students to refer to as a part of their exam revision for this topic.

Description

This resource is designed to assists students with identifying, sequencing and explaining events which were significant in both the global and Australian Civil Rights movements. You may wish to assign each student, pair or small group a flag to work on or alternatively have them select their own. In addition to conducting their own research students may wish to record references, add an image or interesting fact to their flag. Once all flags have been completed you may want to complete a gallery walk to have students complete the summary worksheet or have them present their findings verbally. In addition, this resource can be used as an interactive display to consolidate learning and as an chronological sequencing activity.

* 1 x A4 blank bunting template

* 33 unique events, decades and individuals to select from

* Blank and scaffolded version for differentiation

* 2 x worksheets (10 or 20 spaces) for students to create their own timeline of significant decades, events and individuals for their own study notes.
