What educators are saying

Great low prep activity, I printed the information with the Scientists pictures out for students then posted the rest of the information to Schoology for students to paraphrase on thier timeline.
I love using this resource with my chemistry kids during our atomic theory unit. It makes the history of the atom so much more interactive.

Description

Transform a mundane atomic theory lesson into a hands on activity that will captivate your students' attention! Students will read and process short paragraphs that briefly explain scientists' contributions to the modern atomic theory. Students integrate reading process skills to create a timeline for six scientists: John Dalton, JJ Thomas, Robert Millikan, Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrodinger. They will then include the attached scientist's picture, their name, life span, contributions to atomic theory and research mistakes in a timeline.

The timeline is a great resource to include in a science journal or post on the wall. It can be created during one class time and easily finished at home.

The timeline activity can be easily differentiated for various academic abilities.
