Artist Trading Cards Mini Research Activity
- Word Document File
Description
This is a fun mini artist research activity with a simple one point rubric assessment sheet and an artist resource list.
Making Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) is a fun way to sneak in a mini-research project while learning about certain Image Development Strategies if you choose to use the attached artist list. Students will make one ATC with an image on the front and information on the back. I've used this with grade 6 students, but it could be adjusted for up to grade 12.
Included in the document:
- Instructions for your students,
- An editable, easy-to-use one-point rubric for assessment,
- Suggested report card comments aligned with BC Curriculum to use if students complete this successfully,
- Artist resource list with websites, brief description and one Image Development Strategy they demonstrate.
Minimal prep!
For younger students you may want to cut poster board into 2.5 x 3.5 inch cards or give them a template to trace, but for older students you could extend to math and have them do the measuring themselves. I like to have them use a ruler to make pencil lines on the back for the artist information.
Display these in clear card collector sheets - 9 count each - on your bulletin board which you can purchase for a low cost and reuse every year from any local collector's store, game shop or from Amazon.
