Arrival: A Literacy Unit

This is a 10-day literacy unit based on the movie "Arrival." The unit deals with the concepts of aliens and UFOs, communication and working together for a common purpose, and dealing with the ethical dilemma that arises from the gift of foresight. 

With respect to activities and assignments, the unit includes creative writing, persuasive writing, predictions (during the movie), a lesson on short-essay writing, a movie poster assignment using Photoshop, a communication skills game and activity, and a lesson on the importance of developing critical thinking skills.

1. Google Doc (shared) the provides a teacher outline, predictions, editing checklist, and curriculum expectations (Ontario Canada curriculum, but can easily be adapted for all North American curricula) 
2. Google Slides (shared) to share with your students
3. Video file
