Description
Area and Perimeter Activities Pack: These center games and activities are perfect for teaching area and perimeter in third grade. With perimeter investigations, partner games, art creations, and whole-group activities, your students will be so excited to participate during your math block!
Included in the Area & Perimeter Activity Pack:
⭐️ Perimeter Investigations: This is such an engaging way to introduce area and perimeter to your students (and also a fantastic activity to circle back to throughout your unit). Given a set area, students manipulate their tiles to find different configurations and perimeters.
⭐️ Area & Perimeter Tic-Tac-Toe: Kick your center games up a few notches by playing tic-tac-toe on four boards simultaneously! Students flip cards with rectangle visuals and have to solve for either area or perimeter. Then, they place their counter over the matching number on one of the four tic-tac-toe boards. Who will win the most boards?
⭐️ Area & Perimeter Bingo: Flip over cards with rectangle visuals and solve for either area or perimeter. Students can choose which to solve for depending on whether it will give them an edge in getting BINGO on their board.
⭐️ Area & Perimeter Flip & Compare: Similar to the card game "War," this engaging game asks students to flip a rectangle card and solve for the area or perimeter. Then, they compare their answer to that of their opponent. The player with the greater number gets to keep both cards. This continues until one player is out of cards.
⭐️ Area & Perimeter Creations: This art activity uses graph/grid paper and imagination. Students create a picture on their graph paper using a continuous line without crossing (ex: giraffe, cat, letters...etc). Students color and cut out their creations, and solve for its area and perimeter. BONUS: These make amazing bulletin boards!
