This Area Model (Also known as the Open Array Model or Box Model) for 2 Digit x 2 Digit Multiplication Problems contains a class presentation (PDF file) to use on a Smartboard or other projection screen and a set of differentiated worksheets. A PowerPoint file of editable worksheets is also included (5 slides that can have numbers added to create your own problems).

You receive:

• Class presentation (35 page PDF file) containing the step-by-step procedure for teaching the area model steps to your class. The first several problems are solved in a step-by-step fashion, with gradual release allowing students to take more control over solving the problems.
• Student worksheet packet provides 4 sets of worksheets (each set contains 2 differentiated worksheets) and 2 graphic organizers for students to practice solving problems independently.
• Two versions of each of the four worksheets are included in the student worksheet packet. Having two versions allows you to choose the level of support that your students need. They're perfect for scaffolded, differentiated instruction.
• EDITABLE worksheets - you can add your own numbers to make your own problems. The entire worksheets are not editable - only the numbers can be changed.
