Description
Answering questions has never been easier! In this video, third grade students learn to find evidence in text, write a topic sentence, refer to the text, support with detail sentences, and conclude. In other words, they learn to construct a response to an open-ended question.
Students first read a one-page adaptation from The Velveteen Rabbit*. This text, which is included, has been differentiated at three different reading levels. This allows you to reach every student in your classroom.
Second, kids watch the video, which models constructing a thorough response:
- Find evidence in the text.
- Write a topic sentence that answers the question and uses question parts.
- Refer to the text.
- Support the topic sentence by writing the evidence the text in your own words.
- Finish your answer with a conclusion.
What’s Included:
- One-page text for “Christmas Morning” (adapted at three reading levels)
- Question sheets with and without guiding checklist
- 9-minute video that models the process
Enjoy Teaching!
