Description
Ideal for independent and student-directed learning or use with sub plans! Are you going to be gone from your Grade 4-8 Social Studies/Ancient History classroom for a single day or longer, don't have the time to plan for your absence, and in need of "printable/no prep" Middle School-level history resources for your substitute or for your emergency sub folder? Or do you just need a break from the regular program and want to give your students something new, enjoyable, and different for the day in your Social Studies/Ancient History class?
This bundle contains TWELVE individual "print and go/no prep" Ancient History printables that can be easily used by any substitute or regular class teacher in a Grade 4-8 Social Studies class. The TWELVE resources in this set involve reading a lengthier Ancient History-based article and answering language and social studies-related questions afterward. The articles explore people, societies, or time periods worldwide, including settings of Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America, and North America. Some focus on individuals in the distant past (Confucius, Otzi, Hannibal), others on the work of civilizations (Great Pyramid, Hammurabi's Code, Mesopotamia, Caves of Altamira, Stonehenge, The Etruscans), and others on specific pre-historical periods (La Brea Tar Pits, The Bronze Age, The Hobbit Man, Neanderthals).
These twelve printables were created to take about 45-50 minutes each depending on teacher interest in being involved in the reading. They require close and attentive reading from the students. If you want to use these with sub plans and make your return from illness even smoother, I recommend you follow these up with a YouTube video on the topic when you return.
Rest easy while you are gone or enjoy using these resources while you are there, these are interesting and motivating printables and are what middle school kids need to keep engaged and busy in your classroom.
**This is not "busy work." Students will be completing meaningful and engaging Ancient History work and acquiring new language arts and social studies skills while completing these assignments.**
