What educators are saying

My students loved this resource. They had to actually think to solve the code. They also had to learn the material not just the code.
My kids had a great time with the challenge. Some classes found it more difficult than others and it actually took us two class periods to complete. Students were very engaged in deciphering the code and finding the treasure locked away. This was awesome!!!

Description

In this Ancient Egypt Escape Room activity, students are introduced to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and are placed in the shoes of investigators as they seek to crack a mysterious code left behind by the ancient Egyptians.

Student investigative teams have one class period to solve four clues, each written in hieroglyphics, then complete the final formula to crack the code. Students only have a set number of attempts to open the lock before the ancient lock deteriorates and remains jammed for all of history! Do you have what it takes to crack the code?

Students learn Egyptian hieroglyphics to translate four secret clues, conduct research or use background knowledge, solve a final math problem (based on the clues), and use the clue answers to calculate the final code! A modified final code is included to make it a touch easier for lower classes. A 60-minute timer is also included to display as student teams try to break the code!

ā˜… Guaranteed to excite and engage your classroom. Great for an end-of-the-year, team-building, or skill-building assignment!

Don't have a box or a lock? No worries -- simple workaround ideas are included that keep students focused!

This is the traditional version of my popular Ancient Egypt Hieroglyphics Crack the Code challenge! You can find the version that is optimized for distance learning here.
