Analyzing Canadian Food

In this two-page assignment, students are given a list of Canadian foods. They are required to select one of the foods, describe the food and what it looks like, and explain which province or territory the food is found in. There is also a simple map activity that involves colouring and labelling. Students are then required to analyze their food item using Canada's Food Guide. A marking scheme has been included according to the Ontario curriculum expectations. Some questions fall under the "Knowledge/Understanding" category and the rest are categorized under "Thinking/Inquiry". The marking scheme can easily be removed to make this activity an assessment as learning. An answer key is not included.
