Description

Many of my students, family, and coworkers struggle with how to find the right words to open up a dialogue about sensitive and controversial issues surrounding gender, feminism, race, and more. At this particular moment in history, it can be difficult and even dangerous to do so. In response to this matter, I penned a letter that you can share with students, friends, co-workers, or family. You may use it word-for-word as it appears or you may decide to add/edit/remove certain parts (especially the introduction that may include inaccurate descriptors of your personal demographics!). Please feel free to use this in whatever way is most comfortable for you.

I also heard from coworkers that they weren't really sure where to begin learning more about these controversial issues or about modern influencers of social change. To remedy this, I also created a directory of some of the most influential and impactful readings/podcasts/videos for those who wish to further their education on these matters. The list is by no means exhaustive, but it is at least a good start. You may decide to use that directory for yourself, or share that part with your students as well. Again, totally up to you!

Instead of offering this 2-piece bundle for free, I have decided to ask you for $2 to help cover the cost of the many hours I spent finding the right words to pen in this letter. My intention was for it to sound personal while still being able to be used universally. I hope it helps you to take the next step in preparing your students, coworkers, or family members to understand and be open to discussing 21st-century social issues.
