American Revolution Unit (GPS & CCSS aligned)-COMPLETE!

Throughout this 10 day unit, students will learn every step of how our nation gained its independence, including pre-revolutionary colonial life, Britain's attempts to control the colonies, key events in the Revolutionary War and the first years of our amazing nation. They will learn important details about the people of this era, especially the important ones. They will view period images, participate in webquests and web-based games and activities. Students will have a chance to dissect and examine the U.S.'s most crucial documents including, but not limited to, the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. They will also write their own narrative text following the stages of the writing process, read some amazing non-fiction text and literature and even become a character of the Revolution in a role-playing exercise and presentation to their peers.

Every lesson in this unit is aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards for Social Studies and the Common Core Standards for writing and speaking & listening for fourth grade, however it can be adapted to middle school and high school grades as well.
