Description

American Gothic - Spot the Difference is a fun way to get students to analyze a work of art. It's created as a PDF so it is easy to navigate. The first page displays the painting, which is a great time to talk about the work of art and have the students share their thoughts. The second page has an image of the original painting on the left and a professionally altered one on the right. The students try to spot 10 differences. The third page is an answer key to display when the game is over.

I designed this game because I was teaching art to distance learners who didn’t always have access to art supplies so I needed to have lessons that were in pure presentation form. I was having a hard time keeping the students focused on their screens but when I made this game they were not only engaged but analyzing every inch of the artwork.

You can share the PDF window while teaching virtually, project it on a screen in your class, or have students play the game individually on their laptops. The game will look sharp even on Retina displays.

Great for art history, art appreciation, and visual art lessons.
