Alphabet Letter Matching Uppercase and Lowercase Task Cards Bundle

Do you want an easy prep, hands-on alphabet center to help your little learners practice both their letter recognition and matching lower and upper case alphabet letters?

Because letter recognition is such an important part of the reading process and helps to lay the foundations for our learners to understand the alphabetic principle, I like to provide my class with lots of different ways to interact with the letters.

These task cards have your learners reading the uppercase letter on the base cards and finding the matching lowercase case letter. You decide how many letters they are working on based on their skills and/or the letters you have been working on.

Other uses for the upper and lower alphabet matching cards include:

• Alphabet order: provide a selection of alphabet cards and have students put them in order – this can also be random letters.
• Find the letter: lay out a selection of alphabet cards and ask the students to find the letter which makes the …… sound.
• Flashcards: with either the upper or lower case cards – show students a selection of cards (based on what you have been working on) and have them say the sound the letter makes (or the name of the letter if that is your focus).

Just print, laminate, and cut and you are set to go.

I store these in the larger photo display boxes as it makes storage and packing up so easy, but you can just as easily store them in a ziplock bag.

1. Back to School 1 - match the glue bottle or glue stick lowercase letter to the paper uppercase letter
2. Back to School 2 - match the marker lowercase letter to the crayon uppercase letter
3. Back to School 3 - match the clipboard lowercase letter to the box of markers uppercase letter cards
4. School Bus - match the back of the school bus lowercase letter to the front of the school bus uppercase letter
5. Shark & Shark Fin - match the shark fin lowercase letter to the shark uppercase letter
6. Apple Barrel & Apples - match the apple lowercase letter to the apple barrel uppercase letter
7. Spider Web & Spiders - match the spider lowercase letter to the spider web uppercase letter
8. Burger & Fries - match the fries' lowercase letter to the burger's uppercase letter
9. Fish Bowl & Fish - match the fish lowercase letter to the fishbowl uppercase letter
10. Peanut Butter & Jelly - match the jelly bread lowercase letter to the peanut butter bread uppercase letter
11. Ice Cream & Cone - match the ice cream scoop lowercase letter to the ice cream cone uppercase letter
12. Milk & Cookies - match the cookies lowercase letter to the milk uppercase letter
13. Space - match the rocket's lowercase letter to the planet's uppercase letter
14. Rain & Umbrella - match the umbrella lowercase letter to the rain cloud uppercase letter.
15. Halloween - match the lowercase ghost letter to the uppercase ghost letter card.
16. Hot chocolate and marshmallows - match the lowercase letter marshmallows to the uppercase letter hot chocolate
17. Salt & Pepper - match the lowercase letter pepper shaker to the uppercase letter salt shaker card.
18. Penguins & Ice - match the lowercase letter penguin to the uppercase letter ice card.
19. Autumn Leaves - match the lowercase letter Autumn leaves to the uppercase letter pile of Autumn Leaves card.
20. Waffles & Mapel Syrup match the lowercase letter waffle to the uppercase maple syrup bottle
21. Turkeys & Pumpkins match the lowercase letter pumpkin to the uppercase letter turkey
22. Gingerbread & Milk match the lowercase letter gingerbread to the uppercase letter milk bottle.
23. Christmas Trees & Presents match the lowercase letter presents to the uppercase letter Christmas Tree
24. Dog & Doghouse match the lowercase letter on the dog to the uppercase letter on the dog kennel
