A one page reading passage on how soil is formed, the different grain sizes of soil and why it is important. This is a very information filled passage.
Key vocabulary words included in the passage are

Also included on the second sheet are 16 questions for the students to answer after reading the passage.
I used this as a review just before giving a test on soil to my 6th grade classes and it went good.
It can be used as an introduction or even as later in the year review.
