Description

All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury PowerPoint. Figurative language and imagery focus. This science fiction short story is rich in figurative language and imagery. This PowerPoint with animated graphics introduces three common types of figurative language - similes, metaphors, personification - in before reading activities. Then, during reading, students can look for these types of figurative language and write them down in the chart shown on the screen. (Also available separately as a printable resource, see link below) After reading activities include discussion questions and three different writing activities with engaging prompts. The last slide has links to the online video, and students can make a Venn diagram to compare the movie to the short story. Black and white copies of the writing activities and a short version of the figurative language chart are located at the end for you to print if desired.

Use PowerPoints like this in video conferencing or Zoom for remote learning. Share with students in OneDrive and in Microsoft Teams You can also upload to Google Drive and save as Google Slides, and it will automatically convert for use in Google Classroom. It is editable and easy to adjust if necessary. View in Slideshow mode. Please see full preview. Note: animations do not show in preview.
