Description

Keep students engaged and enhance their vocabulary at the end of the school year or summer school. Students use critical thinking to solve the 12 brain games / word puzzles in this resource. Each brain game or puzzle is designed to engage and challenge students as they expand their knowledge and vocabulary concerning prefixes. This resource is best for students in Grades 5-12. It is also appropriate for adults and staff, who enjoy brain games and word puzzles.

The 39 prefixes included in this standards-based resource are as follows:  a, ab, anti, auto, co, com, con, de,di, dis, en, em, ex, fore, hyper, il, im, in, inter, ir, mal, mid, mis, mega, multi, non, over, out, post, pre, pro, re, semi, sub, super, trans, un, under, uni.

This is an excellent resource for cooperative learning, literacy centers, partner learning, independent learning, and whole group. The puzzles can be used to differentiate instruction. They are great to use for students who finish their work early. The challenging puzzles keep students engaged and would be a wonderful activity for a substitute teacher. This resource could be used intermittently throughout the year to review prefixes or it would be a great addition to your current prefix unit.
