I like to start my family unit by reading picture books about diverse family pointing out who makes up that family and what they do together. After each story, you can discuss and create a family anchor chart using the following guiding questions: Where did the family in the story live? Where does your families live? Who was in this family? Who is in your family? What did this family do together? What does your families like to do together?
