Description

A First Day of School activity flip book for getting to know you and learning all about me! This is a Special Education and Autism Resource for back to school getting to know you activities that include visuals to help students describe how they look and what they like. This back to school activity promotes social skills within the classroom, as students describe themselves and then guess who it is!

This is a wonderful Back To School ice-breaker activity to allow students to interact with peers, encourage language development and social skills. Our kids with autism may find the first day of school both stressful and exciting at the same time.

WHAT WILL MY STUDENTS DO?

Students draw a colorful self-portrait on the last page. On each of the other eight pages, they will write the answers to provide clues for:

• Age

• What he/she likes to eat

• Color of hair

• Color of eyes

• How many pets they have

• Color of clothing he/she is wearing

• Color of backpack

• Who he/she sits next to

• VISUAL SUPPORT PROVIDED FOR ALL RESPONSES INCLUDED ON EACH PAGE

• Reinforces colors/color words

• Reinforces numbers/number words

When the booklets are stapled, they are given to the students in the class. Students read/are read to the clues to see if they can guess who it is. BEFORE the final portrait page is flipped, the student must try and guess who the child is! You’ll hear lots of giggles and laughter as they reach the self-portrait page to check and see if they are right!

Just PRINT, trim around the border, and staple! NO velcro, NO laminating required!

For Special Education classrooms, here are SUGGESTED IEP GOALS:
