Description
Alice in Wonderland Summary:
A young girl named Alice falls asleep in a meadow while her sister reads a book. Alice dreams that she sees a White Rabbit running by her with a pocket watch, so she follows the White Rabbit down a burrow. She has many bizarre adventures with illogical and very strange creatures. She encounters the Dormouse, Caterpillar, the Duchess, The Cheshire Cat, The March Hare and the Mad Hatter. She plays a game of croquet with a flamingo for a croquet mallet and hedgehogs for croquet balls while the Queen of Hearts calls for the execution of almost everyone present in her courtyard. Later, at the Queen’s behest, the Gryphon takes Alice to meet the sobbing Mock Turtle, who recites poetry and sings a funny song about soup. Alice is then called as a witness in the trial of the Knave of Hearts, who is accused of having stolen the Queen of Hearts' tarts. However, when the Queen demands that Alice be beheaded, Alice realizes that the characters are only a pack of cards, and she then awakens from her dream and tells her sister, Lorina all about it.

I have read this story with grades 4-12 and with my adult students, both online and in-class.
Your students will have a lot of fun reading Alice in Wonderland. The characters are quirky and they always make the class smile. The Mock Turtle's song about beauoooootiful soup always makes the students laugh.
This story is adapted from Lewis Carroll's story and it is not based on the Disney feature films.
There is nothing scary in this story. The Queen of Hearts demands that most of the characters have their heads chopped off, but thankfully no one is beheaded in this story.
I hope your class enjoys their trip to Wonderland.
If you have an adaptation request, please let me know.
