Description

I created this checklist as a semester review for my students in Algebra 1. There are 32 skills from the first half of an algebra 1 course, each with a sample exercise. Topics cover order of operations through linear systems:

1. Using Order of Operations to Simplify Expressions
2. Evaluating Variable Expressions
3. Simplifying Absolute Value Expressions
4. Simplifying Variable Expressions using Distributive, Associative, and Commutative Properties
5. Using Properties of Equality to Solve Equations with One Variable
6. Modeling Geometry Problems with Area & Perimeter Formulas
7. Graphing Points in the Coordinate Plane
8. Graphing Linear Functions by Making Tables
9. Finding the Slope of a Line Through Two Points
10. Modeling Linear Functions with y=mx+b
11. Graphing Lines in y= mx+b Form by Identifying Slope and y-Intercept
12. Find the y-Intercpt of a Line
13. Using Slope Criteria for Parallel & Perpendicular Lines
14. Using Reciprocals to Solve Equations with Fractions
15. Using Properties to Solve Multi-Step Equations
16. Using LCD to Solve Equations with Fractions
17. Graphing Linear Equations in Standard Form by Making Intercepts Tables
18. Solving Literal Equations for a Given Variable
19. Verifying Solutions to a System of Equations
20. Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing
21. Solving Systems of Equations by Substitution
22. Solving Systems of Equations by Adding or Subtracting
23. Solving Systems of Equations by Multiplying, then Adding or Subtracting
24. Recognizing Systems with No Solution or Many Solutions
25. Solving (& Graphing) One Variable Inequalities
26. Solving (& Graphing) Absolute Value Inequalities (1-Var
27. Graphing Linear Equations with Absolute Values
28. Graphing Linear Inequalities
29. Solving Systems of Inequalities by Graphing
30. Representing 1-D Datasets with Box and Whisker Graphs
31. Representing 2-D Datasets with Scatter Plots
32. Using Technology to Calculate a Regression Equation

A full answer guide is included, making this a wonderful self-assessment tool for students studying for a big exam at the halfway point in their algebra course. A column for supplemental resources is intentionally left blank so that you can align the study guide with your textbook or other resources.

This file contains only Part 1 of a two-part review guide. Part 2 (Non-Linear)contains 24 skills from the second half of an Algebra 1 course and is available separately. Purchase the complete checklist to receive BOTH parts.

PARENTS (and students) love this type of study guide!
