Description

Students learn the aleph bet (alef bais/bais) rapidly with this game. It's engaging, effective, and fun!! Students identify Hebrew letters while playing withthe same deck of cards for: Memory, Go Fish, File Folder Matching, Mix 'n' Mingle, or in a pocket chart game, whether alone, in a small group center, or in a whole class activity. One purchase/file for all those games!

Cards include all letters in the Hebrew alphabet. Cards are outlined specifically to help teachers keep track of sets and to help color-blind players be able to distinguish between cards. Print in color or black and white.

I designed the game to be used by foreign language teachers, Hebrew Day School teachers, Hebrew School teachers, pre-K teachers, and those who home school.

Game Options:

1. Print the cards 2xs and pass out cards to students. Let them mingle around the classroom finding the person with the matching Hebrew letter card.

2. Print the card pages 2xs, but only cut apart one letter page from each set. glue the page into a file folder with cut apart letter cards. Place the folder in the aleph bet center/station.

3. For smaller classes, place a letter card mat in front of the group, such as in the middle of a circle, and have students take turns finding the matching letter on their card on the mat.

4. Place the Memory game cards in a pocket chart. Hide a sticker behind one letter card. Have students come up to the chart, name a letter on a card, pull it up, and try to find the sticker.

Student-created Activity Testimonial: One kindergarten teacher said that her class created their own matching game with the Memory cards. She printed a page of letters that she did not cut out. She printed a second page of letter cards that she cut apart. She handed a few letter cards to each student as they sat in a circle. They each took turns finding the matching aleph bet letter on the "mat" on the first printed page. She said this was an absolute class favorite activity! I love that my resources are so versatile that the students created their own "file folder" matching game (without the file folder).
