What educators are saying

It was a bit too much reading for my ESL students, but that was my bad. Overall, they enjoyed the opportunity to get up and walk around class rather than sit at their desks.
My students really enjoyed this activity and requested that we do something similar in future units.

Learning Objective

Students will learn about the most popular explorers in the Age of Exploration.

Description

In this Age of Exploration Scavenger Hunt activity, students complete a six-step organizer as they navigate around the room to learn about the explorers involved in the Age of Exploration. The 6 tasks can also be completed as a group or individual assignment instead of a scavenger hunt! Or, you can enjoy this best-selling product in the new Google 1:1 compatible version!

Students read about Christopher Columbus (and Amerigo Vespucci), Vasco da Gama, Ponce de Leon, Hernan Cortes, John Cabot, Henry Hudson, Jacques Cartier, Ferdinand Magellan, Francisco Pizarro, and Henry the Navigator as they complete 6 engaging and focused tasks.

Students complete a "Who Am I" section, a section focused on their country of origin, a section devoted to "debunking" explorer statements, and much, much more.
