What educators are saying
Description
This packet is a great addition to your Jungle unit! Your students explore the rain forest, the savanna, river, and desert habitats. Beginning map skills are included as well as easy to follow directions for how to draw or cut from paper the animals that call these habitats home. A full color teacher read aloud uses realistic photos to describe each habitat and animal.
Designed to be a supplement to your thematic Jungle unit, this booklet is written in an easy reader format. Students illustrate the book themselves by using basic directed drawing skills. Step by step directions for how to create the animals are included. The pages can be put into a learning center for all students to complete, be a teacher directed activity, or used as enrichment for students who finish their assigned work early and need something fun and educational to do!
Animals included are giraffe, crocodile, gorilla, pygmy hippo, zebra, lion, and elephant. Simple fun facts about each animal are given as well as simple information about the continent of Africa.
I have included black lines of the animals if you rather not have your students draw or create the animals from paper.
There are many kinds of African animals. I have included only a few. In order to make this resource practical for your needs, I have included an EDITABLE template with a text box. Simply type in the words that you want to use and you have a page written specifically for your learners.
Three extension activities have been added to the previous resource - a mural assessment, an animal report, and a Safari Kids craft with binoculars.
