In this resource you will get a complete lesson to teach

everything is in color and bw! There are 112 pages, with 56 of them in blackline

⭐ I DO There are 3 anchor charts! (in color and bw)

* Teach using the anchor chart that defines, gives examples and the learning target/objective. The 1st anchor chart goes over what affixes are and examples, the 2nd teaches common prefixes with an anchor word for each, and the 3rd teaches common suffixes with an anchor chart for each word.

⭐ WE DO Affix Detectives (in color and bw)

* A directions page to let students know how to play the game. You will do this with them and guide their learning and address any misconceptions about the concept.

* Projectable and Printable materials for the activity. I suggest projecting this activity and having your students use mini whiteboards to write the complete word for each page.

* You will be reading the clues and simple sentence. Students will use the clues to write the complete word using the root word and affix. There are 10 pages that are each followed by an answer page. 5 of the game pages use a prefix and the other 5 game pages use a suffix. There is also a set of this game at the end of the resource that is more of a challenge because it doesn't give the root word.

⭐ Y'ALL DO Affix Puzzles Activity (in color and bw)

* A directions page for you and your students to know how to play the game or do the activity.

* Printable materials for the "Affix Puzzles" Activity with 16 puzzles (48 pieces)

* I suggest printing the items on cardstock and laminating them before cutting out. Also, you can make them self-correcting by using the same symbol on each of the 3 puzzle pieces.

* Students either have the root word, affix or complete word with picture and sentence. They will work together to make each puzzle.

⭐YOU DO There is 1 worksheet. (in color and bw)

* A directions pages explaining the worksheet

* 1 worksheet with space for the student to self-check the learning target using my FREE self-check posters.

The worksheet has 10 simple sentences with picture clue. Each sentence has a the root word given and a blank space either before or after the root word to write the affix. The top 5 give the five prefixes and their meanings while the bottom 5 give the five suffixes and their meanings. Students will use each affix 1 time. There is a bonus area for them to find 3 words with affixes in books or around the classroom.

* A directions page

* Exit tickets with 6 per page for less printing. The top has a place to score

* An Answer Key page with reflection for students who : need support, almost understand the concept, and understand the concept. There is space for anecdotal notes, names and next steps if needed.
