This document includes resources for analyzing advertisements. These resources help students analyze:
- the purpose of an advertisement
- the targeted audience
- words the author uses to target the audience
- images the author uses to target the audience
- claims that advertisements make and how they appeal to a specific audience
- advertisement strategies
It includes several "walk around" activities, independent work activities, writing extended response activities, and a performance task in which students create their own advertisements. Questions in this document are aligned to MAP/NWEA questions. This document includes real advertisements that are not created by this author.
