Description
After the tactile with addition, primary and 3rd grade students need to understand that the equal sign means...two sides of the equation... 3 + 5 = 8...
One addend missing...
Level 1 - small numbers - one digit...addends
Level 2 - smaller numbers but two digit...addends
Use for 4th and 5th for students that struggle with conceptual addition or students receiving special education services after tactile understanding has been clearly demonstrated...
So, this exercise has the student fill in the missing "mass" (i.e. addend) to make the scale balance - become equal.
Best of luck with your students this school year.
