Adding and subtracting fracts presentation (editable) - AC Year 7 Maths - NumAlg
- PPTX
Description
This product is compliant with Australian Curriculum version 8.4 and version 9.
Description
This presentation helps students extend fluency with adding and subtracting fractions to fractions with different, unrelated denominators. This is suitable for the teaching and learning of Australian Curriculum Year 7 Mathematics (Number and Algebra) (v8.4/v9).
Buying this presentation will save you around 3 hours of time creating it.
This is the editable version, allowing you to change and modify the task as you like it. Please respect my copyright by not distributing or selling modified versions of this document.
Sequencing
Before this task: students must have sound understanding of all fraction types and quantities, fluency with finding equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, and converting between mixed and improper fractions, and foundational skills with adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
After this task: students can progress to multiplication and division of fractions.
The next step is working with negative fractions, then problem solving with all real numbers, possibly involving the interconversion between fraction, decimal, and percentage.
Timing
This task will take approximately 60 minutes to present for whole-class instruction, or 40-80 minutes for independent student learning in a flipped classroom.
