Abraham Lincoln

These materials consist of a biographical rhymed poem with option to color an image of Abraham Lincoln, a video with song including historical images of Abraham and his life, a PowerPoint with slides used to teach about Abraham's life, and the rhymed narrative of Abraham's life in a book form with empty pages so student's can illustrate the words. These materials support a variety of literacy skills including reading rhymed stanzas, illustrating understanding of a passage, improving fluency through continued practice using music, and reading non-fiction materials in a creative fashion such as a poem. I've had each student illustrate one page for a class book to be added to our library. I've had students practice one stanza until memorized and then had the students perform this long narrative to another class. We also practiced the song until we were able to sing it accurately. Students included movement for added entertainment and movement.
