Description

This AP-approved syllabus includes a complete outline and scope and sequence for a course based on American literature. Complete with bibliography and links to open online resources, you can use this syllabus as a stand-alone resource or as a foundation for your own AP Language & Composition or American Literature course.

With a heavy focus on writing and analysis, this syllabus has taken students from the lowest levels of 10th grade English and brought them a 3 or higher on the AP Exam. This syllabus does NOT contain specific assignment sheets or rubrics, but does link to open resources used in the course.

The timed writes in this course rely heavily on the 9-Point Essay Scoring Guide and the 9-Point Essay Writing Booklet, although neither are required.
