Description

This time-saver has endless uses.

I use this template for students who struggle with literacy. Their target audience is their peer ELL students. I use science as a theme but ANY topic or theme will work, or no specific theme except your vocabulary terms. This is an exceptional tool for gifted and talented students as well.

This template allows for editing as it is in Doc and PDF formats. I made it so it uses 4, 8 ½ x 11” sheets of paper; printed on both sides. It has a cover, includes all 26 letters of the alphabet and provides space for a term, definition and a drawing representing the term. It can be edited in any way that best serves your purposes. I wanted to provide my students with a more structured template to work with than just plain paper, so I designed this.

What do you get?

1 page of instructions for the teacher, 1 page of instructions for the student (editable).

4 pages, double sided template with all 26 letters of the alphabet, cover page, back cover for author.

Formats in Word doc and PDF.

Who can use this template?

I use it for students that struggle with literacy.

I have seen gifted and talented students create these and add additional projects, activities and/or web resource’s.

I had one set of middle school students that were struggling use the template but work on google slides. They were required to cite all sources including images, and write in their own words. I was able to use the student work for next year’s students as examples. They did well, and their work in all areas improved.

This ABC book can also be used to complete, reinforce, or elaborate/enrich on terminology/vocabulary use as students are introduced to it. It could easily be vocabulary used within reading assignments, projects, or units of study.

My student example books have given out to our ELL students. I made one example just to demonstrate it; however I have seen creative and colorful results from my students. Are your students put off by the name "ABC BOOK"? I gave my students covers that said "Science Terminology Book" and so can you for ANY topic.

This is also an ideal resource for differentiation; homework, an opportunity for community service where higher grade students create books to give to earlier grade levels and the students may include a presentation to them while presenting the books.

The uses are unlimited.

I hope you enjoy this project as much as my students and I do!
