A Student's Guide to Non-Fiction

I created this resource to help introduce my students to the genre of Non-Fiction. It is a Reference Guide for students to refer to when learning about, exploring, and responding to non-fiction texts. It is perfect for students in upper elementary!!

This flip book is divided into 4 parts:

➀ Non-Fiction Genres

➁ Text Features

➂ Text Structures

➃ Reading Response

➽ Each section provides students with a brief overview of the different aspects of non-fiction. The final section includes prompts and questions for students to respond to when reading non-fiction texts. It also includes sentence frames that students can use to cite evidence.

➽ To prep these flip books, I copied the 4 tab pages on colored paper and copied all other pages on regular white copy paper. Students can then use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to add detail to their covers. Books can be bound, however staples work just as well!!
