What educators are saying

My students performed this play in the spring and it was a huge hit! The kids loved performing it, and the audience was impressed! It was SO funny! And the modern language made all the action in A Midsummer Night's Dream much easier to follow than the original play.

Description

Dream On is a fun adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (by Shakespeare).

Suitable for students aged 12+

Cast size: 26 characters

Can increase cast size to 30 characters by adding extra Fairies in non-specific roles

Can reduce cast size to 21 characters by giving some students 2 roles to perform

Running time: approx. 75 minutes (without an interval). This can be extended by using songs, music and/or dance routines.

Perfect for 7th graders and above, this adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream is a shortened version that contains all of the characters, themes and story from the original Shakespeare play, but at a slightly faster pace and with one or two tweaks! The play has been written to be performed without an interval but one could easily be included to turn it into a wonderful two-act production. Let the summer of madness and mayhem begin!

This stage script includes full and comprehensive production notes with guidance for set, props, costumes, lighting and sound effects. The script also includes notes for directors and teachers on approaches to directing the play and great follow-on activities covering story, characters, theme, script layout and performance-related tasks for additional work in the classroom and drama studio.

If you are giving a performance of this play, even to a non-paying audience, you must purchase a corresponding Multiple Performance Rights License from this store.
