What educators are saying

I love using this resource to work with my students on topics that are relating to the 7th grade topics. My students use this as review and relearning the topics
These math assessments and teaching notes are well thought out, creative, and organized. They are a perfect supplement to our math curriculum.

Description

These sixth grade math assessments are great pre- and post-assessments to truly assess your students on the rigor of the Common Core Math Standards. They are organized, easy to implement, and have teaching notes that break the standards down into easy to understand language.

The Teaching Notes:

Β·Every individual standard comes with teaching notes that break the standard down into three levels of learning/understanding.

Β·The three levels of learning/understanding include: what students should know/be able to do at the conceptual level, procedural level, and representational level.

These teaching notes not only make teaching the standards much easier, but they also help teachers understand where their students need to be in order to show mastery of the standard by test time.

The Assessments:

Β·There are 10 higher level assessment questions for EVERY SINGLE standard under Ratios and Proportional Relationships, The Number System, Expressions and Equations, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.

Β·Most assessment questions are written response and higher ordered thinking questions, that require students to justify their answers and write to explain their thinking.

Β·Answer keys come with student example responses to help teachers check students’ work.

The Assessment Cover Pages:

Β·Included are pages of blank "I can" statements for student documentation (to be used with my Student Data Tracking Binder).

Β·The cover pages also include a table to document assessment dates and scores.

Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas 𝘝 = 𝘭 𝘸 𝘩 and 𝘝 = 𝘣 𝘩 to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, β€œHow old am I?” is not a statistical question, but β€œHow old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
