Description

This 6th Grade Math digital, auto-grading, no prep, formative assessment and test prep review is on Equations and Inequalities. It is a check for understanding on the 6th Grade Common Core Standards: solving one step equations by adding or subtracting, solving one step inequalities by adding or subtracting, doing so with whole numbers and rational numbers, determining whether a number is a solution of an equation or not. This product is in my 6th Grade Math Benchmark Assessment Bundle: HERE

2 Assessment Versions are included. The assessments, aligned to the Common Core Standards, are designed to easily and quickly check for understanding, implement interventions via whole group, small group and/or 1-on-1, and reassess for understanding.

-- Teacher Dashboard & Data:

  • Instantly analyze student data in a snapshot on the free teacher dashboard (all digital) to determine gaps and misconceptions. Check mark symbol indicates correct answer, whereas "x" indicates incorrect. The dashboard shows the entire class - all students - while also showing their correctness at the same time. Progress monitoring data are essential in order to drive decisions around whether students are meeting the standards and learning goals.

  • The answer choices are crafted carefully to pinpoint potential student gaps, misconceptions. This may help target your instruction to address these issues. Use data to guide instruction and determine next action steps by pulling small groups and plan your lessons strategically to meet students' needs. The assessment automatically generates a score so you don't have to spend time grading! Instead, spend more time planning effective lessons and interventions to maximize learning! Check out the preview for how to get students' scores.

  • Each assessment contains 13 multiple choice questions and students take the assessment online using Desmos, a free platform. While free-response questions are very useful, I wanted this to be quick and easy to implement. Instructions are provided on how to use Demsos in the slides (from the purchase) and preview.

Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form 𝘹 + 𝘱 = 𝘲 and 𝘱𝘹 = 𝘲 for cases in which 𝘱, 𝘲 and 𝘹 are all nonnegative rational numbers.
Write an inequality of the form 𝘹 > 𝘀 or 𝘹 < 𝘀 to represent a constraint or condition in a real-world or mathematical problem. Recognize that inequalities of the form 𝘹 > 𝘀 or 𝘹 < 𝘀 have infinitely many solutions; represent solutions of such inequalities on number line diagrams.
Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation π˜₯ = 65𝘡 to represent the relationship between distance and time.
