6 foot HR Diagram Manipulative

A life size HR diagram is a great way to get kids up and moving! Each student is given a star. They have to place their star onto the large HR diagram in the correct location according to magnitude and size. This is a great way to achieve 100% student participation, engagement, and problem solving strategies. Prior to this activity, you can easily make a large HR diagram out of butcher paper, labeling the x and y axis. Once all the cards are placed into the HR Diagram, it's easy to see the pathway of the main sequence stars. Star cards can be mixed up again and passed out again so students get practice reading and interpreting the diagram.
