Description

This particular SMART Notebook presentation is meant for students to use at computers independently as a way of practicing the concepts taught previously in the classroom relating to measuring length, mass, and volume. They will need to bring a piece of paper and pencil to write down the clues they collect. Encourage them to collect all clues in order so that their coded message sounds right. Throughout the slides, students will solve measurement problems and select an answer that will give them a clue. All answers, wrong and correct, provide clues; so students will not know until the end if they have collected the correct clues. Each slide asks students to do something interactive to collect the clue - whether it's move different bodies of water into a graduated cylinder to find the one measuring exactly 29mL or adding grams to a balance to show whether would have more or less mass than a bowling ball. Each action they do is instruction on a "pull" tab on each slide and the result will reveal a letter they need to solve the measurement machines bug problem. My kids LOVED doing this in the computer lab at the end of our measurement unit to review mass, length, and volume.
