What educators are saying

This resource was great. It was completely aligned to my fifth grade standards and my students enjoyed it.

Description

Prep your students with this fun self-checking Adding/Subtracting Decimals  Math Fluency/Application Activity! Pixel art is a great way to engage students into becoming proficient at performing math operations, especially when adding and subtracting  decimals!!

This resource has been created with Google Sheets; therefore, it seamlessly integrates with Google Classroom. It can also be assigned through any  LMS as long as there is access to Google Drive accounts, either individual or a shared account.

This resource fully aligns with Common Core Standard 5NBT 7:

Add and subtract decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

  • This resource includes  4 different images and 4 differentiated levels

42 QUESTIONS

Level 1: Add to the tenths  ( 8 questions)

Level 2: Add to the hundredths and thousandths   (6 questions)

Level 3: Subtract to the tenths , hundredths and thousandths digits by two digits (15 questions)

Level 4:  Adding /Subtracting Decimals Word Problems  ( 13  word problems)

  • How it works

Students reveal a mystery picture one pixel at a time by entering the answers to questions in Column A into Column B. This activity is self graded as the image gradually  appears ( a pixel at a time) if the answers are correct. No colored pixels will  appear for wrong answers.

If you are a Google Classroom user, you can assign this activity as classwork using the “Make a copy for each student” feature. If you are not a google classroom user, you can assign the link as a “force copy”.
